Life as an entrepreneur is far from simple. No one is holding your hand, the right path is often hard to find, and you honestly have to figure out a lot of it as you go. Looking back on what I’ve learned over the years, here are some quick and simple rules I’ve grown to live by that will help you find success in all types of business endeavors.
1. Create non-negotiables in your life. Unbreakable commitments to yourself are the first step to taking control of your life, and once you have control of your life, you have the power to change it.
2. SLAY your self-doubt. If you believed in Santa Claus, you can believe in yourself. Leave it to others to try to talk you out of your dreams while YOU focus on achieving them.
3. Determine what you want your LEGACY to be. What do you want to be remembered for? Spend your life taking actions toward helping you achieve it.
4. Make peace with your mistakes. People, things, mishaps etc. Don’t allow your past mistakes to screw up what you’ve got now.
5. Don’t be a over-researcher. Respect time. Be a doer, be an action taker. People and clients want tangible results, not papered-up expertise.
6. When you feel afraid, DO IT. Ask yourself, “If this fails, what’s the worst thing that can happen?” What I know for sure is that sometimes things flop. Sometimes we lose, but sometimes we have breakthroughs—and that’s how we innovate and build confidence.
7. Learn to say NO. You are in charge of your time, your energy, and your life. Sometimes you just have to say no to time-wasters.
8. Learn to say YES. Taking risks and stepping up puts you in a position to learn new things, meet new people, create new life experiences, and enhance the value to your boss or your company, and also your personal life.
Entrepreneurial people are passionate about what they do, comfortable with taking risks, and quick at moving on from failures. Does this sound like you? What else can we add to this list? Let me know in the comments below! ?
